ASSISTANT MANAGER, BROKERAGE

The incumbent has responsibility for driving the performance of the securities brokerage business segment of Barita’s Treasury & Trading business to include equities and fixed income for the Proprietary books (on and off-balance Sheet) and Clients.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors Degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial
    Science, Accounts or any other related discipline.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years work experience in Treasury
    Management, Investment Research, Portfolio Management or
    Investment Banking.
  • Graduate level degree and/or progress in CFA, FRM, CAIA would

MANAGER, FINANCIAL REPORTING

The incumbent’s responsibility is to ensure the accurate recording of transactions, manage the staff members of the department and provide accurate and timely reporting of information to internal and external customers. The Manager will execute internal and external analysis and reporting for certain business units.

 

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

▪ Direct and monitor the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements according to stipulated guidelines for submission to the board, Jamaica Stock Exchange, Senior management, and Head Office.
▪ Approve journal entries and ensure that all transactions are recorded, and general ledger is updated and maintained monthly.
▪ Review bank reconciliations and suspense/clearing account analysis.
▪ Perform review of subledger recon for products including investments, repurchase agreement, loans, and equity.
▪ Ensure timely and accurate submission of all statutory and regulatory requirements, including the preparation and submission of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
▪ Ensure the timely filing and payment of all tax returns including GCT, Payroll taxes, Asset tax, Income tax and Withholding tax.
▪ Assist with the annual budgeting exercise.
▪ Assist with timely completion of internal and external audits.
▪ Review and post Accounts Payable invoices.
▪ Communicate with internal stakeholders on a regular basis to discuss operational issues, key metrics.
▪ Recommend changes in policies, procedures, and processes to minimize risk and improve efficiency of finance unit.
▪ Coach, mentor and evaluate staff members

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

▪ Bachelor’s in Accounting and/or Financial Management
▪ Chartered Accountant or two sittings or less to completion of ACCA /CPA
▪ At least two (2) years working or auditing experience in the financial services industry,
preferable in pension funds, unit trust or pooled fund accounting

 

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

▪ Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP, and preparation of Financial Reports
▪ Knowledge of pension funds, unit trust or pooled fund administration, legislation and
regulations would be an asset.
▪ Knowledge of investment products and financial reports.
▪ Meticulous and detailed oriented
▪ Ability to work on own initiative and organize output to meet set standards and tight
deadlines
▪ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
▪ Excellent time management and communication skills (oral & written)
▪ Excellent client relationship and interpersonal skills

PROGRAMMER ANALYST

The incumbent’s responsibility is to define, develop, test, analyze and maintain new software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements, and will also research, design, document and modify software specifications throughout the software development life cycle.

 

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

▪ Work collaboratively with business analyst, product owners, and other programmer analyst in understanding and documenting the requirements specification for new system features and/or enhancement to existing systems features
▪ Understand the big picture and the various use cases involved while crafting the solution and document them in Unified Modelling Language (UML)
▪ Identify the appropriate software architecture for both server-side and client-side solutions to achieve the proposed requirement
▪ Prepare detailed software design specifications based on system requirements specifications
▪ Analyze data requirements and document database design for implementation
▪ Code, debug, test and document application programs
▪ Assist with maintenance, documentation and testing of existing software
▪ Develop support documentation for applications and systems patches
▪ Assist in maintaining user manuals and/or technical documentation
▪ Train users regarding the technical aspects and use of developed applications
▪ Provide ongoing support to users of application software

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

▪ BSc in Information Technology/Computer Programming or related field
▪ 5+ years’ experience in application development
▪ Proficient in Agile Scrum Framework (Developer)
▪ Proficient in OOP Designs, MVC, Microservices Architecture
▪ Proficient in applying coding standards, SOLID Principle
▪ Strong knowledge of relational databases
▪ Solid background in C#, Visual Studio, PHP
▪ Prior experience in the Financial Services industry is a distinct advantage
▪ Prior experience as a Systems Analyst or in a similar capacity is a distinct advantage
