About the Role
The Operations Officer, AI, Analytics & Efficiency Unit supports the day-to-day delivery of a digitally enabled, insight-driven Operations function across Barita Financial Group. Working under the direction of the Manager, Operations the Officer provides hands-on execution support for automation, data preparation, operational reporting, reconciliation, and exception tracking. This is a practical, execution-focused role suited to an analytically minded early-career professional. The Officer helps translate manual, repetitive tasks into automated and streamlined workflows, prepares clean and reliable data for analysis and reporting, and supports the Group’s broader drive toward operational efficiency, scalability, and improved customer experience. The role is an entry point into a modern, technology-forward Operations team and offers clear scope for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

Automation & AI Support

  • Assist in building, testing, and maintaining automated workflows using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Apps).
  • Develop and maintain simple Python and Excel routines for data transformation, scheduled reporting, and repetitive operational tasks.
  • Support the responsible use of generative and agentic AI tools for document handling, exception summaries, and drafting operational reports, under the guidance of the Assistant Manager.
  • Help identify manual or repetitive processes that are suitable for automation and contribute ideas for low-code / no-code solutions.

Data Preparation & Analytical Support

  • Gather, clean, validate, and structure operational data from multiple internal sources to ensure it is accurate and analysis-ready.
  • Support the upkeep of the Group Operations Performance Dashboard, including refreshing data on SLA adherence, transaction volumes, exception metrics, and execution quality.
  • Prepare charts, tables, and straightforward summaries that help the team draw actionable insights from operational data.

Operational & Management Reporting

  • Compile and format accurate daily, weekly, and monthly operational and performance reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare supporting data and reporting inputs for regulatory and management submissions (BOJ, FSC, and internal standards), ensuring completeness before review.
  • Track reporting deadlines and ensure scheduled reports are delivered on time and to the required standard.

Reconciliation Support

  • Perform first-level reconciliations of bank, broker, and clearing accounts across BIL, BUT, BMB, and BFML, covering portfolios such as equities, repos, loans, and assets.
  • Identify and log daily position and cash breaks, and escalate unresolved or unusual items to the Assistant Manager for resolution.
  • Maintain accurate reconciliation tracking logs and support follow-up with custodians, brokers, and internal teams.

Exception Tracking & Process Improvement

  • Monitor, record, and follow up on operational exceptions, maintaining clear and current exception logs.
  • Document existing operational processes and highlight bottlenecks or opportunities for simplification and improvement.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system and process changes by executing test scripts and recording results.

Operational Discipline & Governance Support

  • Adhere consistently to group-wide operational policies, controls, procedures, and reconciliation protocols.
  • Assist with quarterly key-controls testing and internal audit preparation by gathering and organizing supporting evidence and documentation.
  • Maintain strong data integrity and accurate record-keeping across all assigned tasks.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Zero to two (0–2) years of relevant experience; recent graduates with strong analytical ability are encouraged to apply.
  • Internship or work exposure in financial services, operations, data analysis, reconciliation, or payments administration is an asset.
  • Willingness to obtain the Jamaican Securities certification within an agreed timeframe after joining.
  • Interest in pursuing further professional development (e.g., CFA, data analytics, or automation certifications) is viewed favourably.

Assistant Vice President, Corporate and Investment Banking

 ROLE PURPOSE

The Assistant Vice President, Corporate & Investment Banking is a senior client‑facing and transaction‑execution leader responsible for originating, structuring, and delivering complex financing and advisory solutions to corporate, institutional, and government clients.

The role combines relationship management, credit and risk assessment, and investment‑banking execution, including debt and equity capital markets, structured finance, project finance, and M&A advisory.

 The incumbent will lead deal teams, manage key client relationships, and contribute to the strategic growth of the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) franchise.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Coverage & Relationship Management

  • Serve as a senior relationship manager for top‑tier corporate, institutional, and government clients.

Fraud Risk Specialist

The Fraud Risk Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing the fraud risk framework within the Group. The incumbent is expected to work closely with all business lines to ensure alignment and compliance.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that fraud risk and control self-assessments reflect the risk profile of the businesses, current and comprehensive, whilst analyzing fraud incidents, issues and related uplift initiatives across the group.
  • Help support and provide oversight and challenge of the Business’ completion of relevant fraud and financial crime risk assessment activity both from an enterprise-wide, product and process perspective.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on fraud and financial crime-related threats, risks and issues both to internal stakeholders within the Business and as required, across government.
  • Excellent knowledge of risk operations and compliance processes and ensuring the management of these within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Review and draft related policies, annual plans, and operating or working procedures/manuals to ensure alignment between 1LoD and 2LoD.
  • Working with key stakeholders to build the Fraud prevention/investigation procedures and establish audit trails for suspicious/irregular activities.
  •  Assist with the creation of an environment that discourages fraudulent activities.
  • Working with key stakeholders to ensure detailed investigations are performed in instances of fraudulent activity, ensuring that all possible measures are pursued to apprehend fraudulent perpetrators and protect the Group.
  • Manage the preparation and presentation of Fraud Awareness Training, ensuring adequate information is articulated to minimize fraudulent activity.
  • Conduct fraud assessments of various processes and systems and recommend changes based on information gleaned from ongoing reviews/investigations.

  • Respond to inquiries from business units regarding fraud risk management issues and recommend actions in fraud cases

  QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE                                                                                                                                                                         

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Statistics or related discipline
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certification in Risk Management preferred
  • Minimum of six (6) years’ working experience, with at least three (3) years at the supervisory level particularly in a financial institution regulated by the BOJ or FSC
  • Robust working knowledge of laws relating to Compliance including the Proceeds of Crime Act, Banking Services Act, Securities Act, Pensions Act, Money Laundering Act, and regulations made pursuant thereto and the Stock Exchange rules.


Manager, Financial Reporting

ROLE & CORE FUNCTION

 

The Manager – Financial Reporting’s responsibility is to ensure the accurate recording of transactions, act in a supervisory role to other staff members of the department and provide accurate and timely reporting of information to internal and external customers.  The Manager will assist with all internal and external analysis and reporting for certain business units.  
 

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent performs tasks such as general ledger account analysis and reconciliations, reviewing journal entries, intercompany billings, and preparation of monthly financial statements.

  •  Directs and monitors the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements according to stipulated guidelines for submission to Board, Jamaica Stock Exchange, Senior management and Head Office
  • Approving journal entries and ensuring that all transactions are recorded, and general ledger is updated and maintained on a monthly basis.
  • Review bank reconciliations and suspense/clearing account analysis
  • Perform review of subledger recon for products including investments, repurchase agreement, loans, and equity.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all statutory and regulatory requirements, including the preparation and submission of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE)
  • Review and post Accounts Payable invoices.
  • Assist with timely completion of internal and external audits.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting exercise.
  • Ensure the timely filing and payment of all tax returns including GCT, Payroll taxes, Asset tax, Income tax and Withholding tax
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders on a regular basis to discuss operational issues, key metrics
  • Recommend changes in policies, procedures and processes to minimize risk and improve efficiency of finance unit.
  • Coach, mentor and evaluate staff members
