Local Equities Market
For the week ending June 28, 2024, the local stock market, measured by the Combined Index, advanced by 2.07%. The Main Market Index advanced by 1.80%, the Junior Market Index advanced by 5.20%, and the JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 8.38%. During the week, Jamaica Producers Group Limited was the largest gainer, rising by approximately 27.08% to close at $24.78. Edufocal Limited was the biggest decliner, which fell by 15.87% to close at $0.53.
Small-cap stocks, reflecting those listed on the Junior Market Index are overperforming on a YTD basis, decreasing by 0.13%, relative to its Main Market counterpart which has declined by 2.08%.
For the week ending June 28, 2024, overall market activity resulted from trading in 125 stocks of which 71 advanced, 44 declined and 10 traded firm. Market volume amounted to 218,373,369 units valued at over $1,026,041,599.95. Derrimon Trading Company Limited was the volume leader with 35,513,462 units (16.04%), followed by Wigton Windfarm Limited with 22,949,273 units (10.36%), and by Sagicor Select funds Limited – Financial with 13,708,701 units (6.19%).
