For the week ending February 28, 2025, the local stock market, measured by the Combined Index, improved by 1.01%. The Main Market Index improved by 1.10%, the Junior Market Index declined by 0.10% and the JSE USD Equities Index improved by 6.11%. During the week General Accident Insurance Company (JA) Limited was the largest gainer, rising by approximately 22.91% to close at $6.17. Medical Disposables & Supplies Limited was the biggest decliner, which fell by 29.59% to close at $1.38.
Large-cap stocks, reflecting those listed on the Main Market Index are outperforming on a YTD basis, declining by 1.32%, relative to its Junior Market counterpart which has declined by 2.88%.
For the week ending February 28, 2025, overall market activity resulted from trading 125 stocks of which 54 advanced, 59 declined and 12 traded firm. Market volume amounted to 181,037,295 units valued at over $785,922,967.83. Key contributors to trading volume are Jamaican Teas Limited with 32,147,671 units (17.58%), followed by Wigton Energy Limited with 25,528,999 units (13.96%) and TransJamaican Highway Limited with 16,835,563 units (9.21%).
