Local Equities Market

For the week ending January 09, 2025, the local stock market, measured by the Combined Index, improved by 2.44%. The Main Market Index improved by 2.68%, the Junior Market Index declined by 0.64%, and the JSE USD Equities Index improved by 3.91%. During the West Indies Petroleum Terminal Limitedwas the largest gainer, rising by approximately 238.46% to close at $6.60. GWEST Corporation Limited Ordinary Shares was the biggest decliner, which fell by 26.25% to close at $0.59.

Large-cap stocks, reflecting those listed on the Main Market Index are outperforming on a YTD basis, improving by 3.16%, relative to its Junior Market counterpart which has declined by 1.21%.

For the week ending January 09, 2025, overall market activity resulted from 128 stocks of which 42 advanced, 73 declined and 13 traded firm. Market volume amounted to 251,375,509 units valued at over $713,741,372.16. Key contributors to trading volume are JFP Limited with 109,574,536 (43.31%), followed by TransJamaican Highway Limited with 26,087,546 units (10.31%) AMG Packaging & Paper Company Limited with 17,394,335 units (6.87%).
