Local Equities Market

For the week ending January 12, 2024, the local stock market, measured by the Combined Index, declined by 0.16%. The Main Market Index declined by 0.14%, the Junior Market Index declined by 0.35%, and the JSE USD Equities Index declined by 1.75%. During the week, AS Bryden & Sons Holding Limited was the largest gainer, rising by approximately 21.98% to close at $40.40. AMG Packaging & Paper Company Limited was the biggest decliner, which fell by 25.85% to close at $2.41.

Large-cap stocks, reflecting those listed on the Main Market Index are overperforming on a YTD basis, declining by 1.06%, relative to its Junior Market counterpart which has declined by 2.11%.

For the week ending January 12, 2024, overall Market activity resulted from trading in 124 stocks of which 50 advanced, 56 declined and 18 traded firm. Market volume amounted to 90,749,872 units valued at over $669,700,376.78. Wigton Windfarm Limited was the volume leader with 29,791,947 units (32.72%), followed by Edufocal Limited with 6,043,536 units (6.64%) and by TransJamaican Highway Limited with 4,966,558 units (5.46%).
