Local Equities Market
For the week ending January 16, 2025, the local stock market, measured by the Combined Index, improved by 0.37%. The Main Market Index improved by 0.49%, the Junior Market Index declined by 1.21%, and the JSE USD Equities Index improved by 4.65%. During the First Rock Real Estate Investments Limited (USD) was the largest gainer, rising by approximately 50.00% to close at $0.04. ISP Finance Services Limited was the biggest decliner, which fell by 23.22% to close at $11.51.
Large-cap stocks, reflecting those listed on the Main Market Index are outperforming on a YTD basis, improving by 3.66%, relative to its Junior Market counterpart which has declined by 2.40%.
For the week ending January 16, 2025, overall market activity resulted from 127 stocks of which 53 advanced, 58 declined and 16 traded firm. Market volume amounted to 126,859,749 units valued at over $482,065,582.63. Key contributors to trading volume are TransJamaican Highway Limited with 27,557,439 (21.31%), followed by Atlantic Hardware and Plumbing Company Limited with 17,885,479 units (13.83%) AMG Packaging & Paper Company Limited with 13,112,123 units (10.14%).
