Local Equities Market

For the week ending January 23, 2025, the local stock market, measured by the Combined Index, improved by 1.70%. The Main Market Index improved by 1.84%, the Junior Market Index declined by 0.08%, and the JSE USD Equities Index improved by 3.20%. During the West Indies Petroleum Terminal Limited was the largest gainer, rising by approximately 33.52% to close at $9.76. Sagicor Real Estate X Fund Ltd. was the biggest decliner, which fell by 24.55% to close at $5.81.

Large-cap stocks, reflecting those listed on the Main Market Index are outperforming on a YTD basis, improving by 5.56%, relative to its Junior Market counterpart which has declined by 2.48%.

For the week ending January 23, 2025, overall market activity resulted from 127 stocks of which 60 advanced, 52 declined and 15 traded firm. Market volume amounted to 136,147,809 units valued at over $605,472,545.33. Key contributors to trading volume are TransJamaican Highway Limited with 47,686,737 (33.49%), followed by Kintyre Holdings (JA) Limited with 13,888,951 units (9.75%) Edufocal Limited with 12,701,955 units (8.92%).
