Local Equities Market
For the week ended January 27, 2023, the local stock market as measured by the Combined Index declined by 0.26%. The Main Market Index declined by 0.12%, the JSE Junior Market Index declined by 1.40%, and the JSE USD Equities Index declined by 9.20%. During the week, Palace Amusements was the largest ordinary equity gainer, rising by approximately 41.14% to close at $2,882.58. The biggest decliner was Margaritaville (Turks) Ltd., which fell by 17.74% to close at US$1.28. Small-cap stocks, reflecting those listed on the Junior Market Index have slightly outperformed on a YTD basis, declining by 0.48%, outpacing its Main Market counterpart which has declined 4.47%.

For the week ended January 27, 2023, overall market activity resulted from trading in 128 stocks, of which, 47 advanced, 68 declined and 13 traded firm. Market volume amounted to 160,091,561 units valued at $720,919,020.38. Wigton Windfarm Limited was the volume leader with 64,106,868 units (39.41%), followed by Image Plus Consultants Limited with 19,773,976 units (12.16%), and Fosrich Company Limited with 8,875,754 units (5.46%).
