For the week ending July 19, 2024, the local stock market, measured by the Combined Index, declined by 2.30%. The Main Market Index declined by 2.31%, the Junior Market Index declined by 2.19%, and the JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 0.68%. During the week, Sterling Investment Limited USD was the largest gainer, rising by approximately 29.61% to close at USD 0.02. Medical Disposables & Supplies Limited was the biggest decliner, which fell by 30.56% to close at $1.75.
Large-cap stocks, reflecting those listed on the Main Market Index are overperforming on a YTD basis, decreasing by 4.35%, relative to its Junior Market counterpart which has declined by 5.39%.
For the week ending July 19, 2024, overall market activity resulted from trading in 121 stocks of which 38 advanced, 68 declined and 15 traded firm. Market volume amounted to 176,133,599 units valued at over $822,972,582.75. Dolla Financial Services Limited was the volume leader with 104,315,816 units (58.83%), followed by TransJamaican Highway Limited with 25,643,010 units (14.46%), and by Wigton Windfarm Limited 6,185,945 units (3.49%).
