Local Equities Market

For the week ending March 8, 2023, the local stock market, measured by the Combined Index, declined by 1.14%. The Main Market Index declined by 1.23%, the Junior Market Index declined by 0.33%, and the JSE USD Equities Index declined by 0.93%. During the week, Pulse Investments Limited was the largest gainer, rising by approximately 22.54% to close at $2.12. Sterling Investments Limited USD was the biggest decliner, which fell by 23.47% to close at USD 0.02.

Large-cap stocks, reflecting those listed on the Main Market Index are overperforming on a YTD basis, increasing by 2.07%, relative to its Junior Market counterpart which has declined by 0.34%.

For the week ending March 8, 2024, overall Market activity resulted from trading 120 stocks of which 43 advanced, 61 declined and 16 traded firm. Market volume amounted to 742,355,281 units valued at over $1,047,306,514.52. Wigton Windfarm Limited was the volume leader with 642,958,143 units (86.43%), followed by TransJamaican Highway Limited with 22,468,164 units (3.02%), and by Spur Tree Spices Jamaica Limited with 18,353,712 units (2.47%)
