Local Stock Market Review
The biggest winner was Proven Investments USD rising 28.8% to close at US$0.3354. The biggest loser was CAC 2000 falling 20.75% to close at $11.00. For the week ended Friday, the Jamaica Stock Exchange indexes closed mostly higher with the JSE Combined Index advancing by 1.00%, the JSE Main Market Index advanced by 1.18%, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 1.19%, the JSE Select Index advanced by 0.82%, the JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 14.63% but the Junior Market Index declined by 1.27%.

US News & Data:
US annual inflation increased to 1.8% in October 2019 from 1.7% in September 2019, slightly higher than the market expectation of 1.7%. US Industrial production fell 1.1% year-over-year in October of 2019, following a 0.1% decline in September 2019, it was the biggest annual decrease in industrial output in three years, due to falls in manufacturing and utilities.
European News & Data:
UK GDP grew 0.3% in Q3 2019, slightly rebounding from a 0.2% contraction in Q2 2019 and missing market expectations of a 0.4% expansion, a preliminary estimate showed; the year-over-year GDP expansion in Q3 2019 was 1.0%. The UK trade deficit rose to £3.36 billion in September 2019 and the UK inflation rate fell to 1.5% yearover-year in October 2019 from 1.7%, the lowest rate since November 2016. Germany’s GDP grew by 0.1% on quarter in Q3 2019, recovering from a 0.2% fall in Q2 2019 and beating market expectations of a 0.1% contraction.

China’s annual inflation rose to 3.8% in October 2019, a significant rise from 3% in September, this was the highest inflation rate since January 2012, mainly due to persistently high pork prices and it was well above the 3.3% market expectation. Russia’s GDP grew by 1.7% year-over-year in Q3 2019, from a 0.9% increase in Q2 2019, beating market expectations of 1.6%; but its trade surplus shrank to US $14.15 billion in September 2019 from US$ 18.84 billion in September 2018.
