For the week ended Friday, the Jamaica Stock Exchange indexes closed mixed with the JSE Combined Index advancing by 0.30%, the JSE Main Market Index advanced by 0.35%, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 0.35%, the JSE Select Index advanced by 0.44%, the Junior Market Index declined by 0.26% and the JSE USD Equities Index declined by 4.52%.

US News & Data:
The US trade deficit narrowed slightly to US $52.5 billion in September 2019 from US $55 billion in August 2019, as imports from Germany and China declined and the US reported its first crude oil surplus since 1978. However, the US National Debt has now officially past the US $23 trillion mark.
European News & Data:
The IHS Markit Eurozone Manufacturing PMI was 45.9 in October 2019 from a preliminary estimate of 45.7, slightly higher than September’s seven-year low as new orders continued to contract. The Bank of England decided to keep its benchmark rate at 0.75% during its October policy meeting while Germany’s balance of trade surplus widened to € 21.1 billion in September 2019 from € 18.2 billion in September 2018.

China’s balance of trade surplus rose to US $42.81 billion in October 2019 from US $32.97 billion in October 2018, the largest trade surplus since July. Brazil annual inflation fell to 2.54% in October of 2019 from 2.89% in September, the lowest inflation rate since September of 2017.
