Local Equities Market
For the week ended July 9, 2022, the local stock market as measured by the Combined Index advanced week-over-week by 1.1%. The Main Market Index declined by 1.30%, the JSE Junior Market Index advanced by 0.10%, and the JSE USD Equities Index declined by 0.59%. During the week, SSLVC was the largest gainer, rising 22.73% to close at $3.5. The biggest decliner was ISP Finance Services Limited, which fell by 24.31% to close at $17.03.
Year-to-date, with the ongoing rebound in the local economy, small-cap stocks, reflecting those listed on the Junior Market Index have continued the strong performance seen in 2021, growing by 26.63% YTD, outpacing its Main Market counterpart which is down 3.89% YTD.
This week overall market activity resulted from trading in 117 stocks of which 31 advanced, 72 declined and 14 traded firm. The following companies represent the overall volume leaders:
